Summary: Our Welder is responsible for reading blueprints and shop drawings to perform welding related work orders on prefabbed structural steel for various engineering jobs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Study and interpret drawings or blueprints to understand structural welding requirements.
- Perform MIG welding process.
- Select appropriate welding tools and equipment based on the job requirements.
- Operate grinder to prepare and finish welds.
- Operate beam rotators, beam transfers, or other machines as required.
- Operate magnetic drill or other tools as required.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Detect and correct defects in welds, such as porosity or incomplete penetration.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshoot repairs, and detect flaws in equipment as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve production goals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass a 1G welding test
- Prior experience in manufacturing/fabrication shop is preferred but not required
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Acute attention to detail
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player
- Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment
